Our Mission
Smiling Ray Productions was founded to tell the stories we believe in—bold, original narratives driven by a strong creative vision.

After years working behind the scenes on major international productions — including The Imitation Game, Submergence, Suspiria, Dark, and Mother Mary —we made the leap from crew to creators.

Drawing heavily on long-standing industry relationships, practical expertise, and supported by a trusted network of collaborators, we’re building work that truly reflects our vision and values.

We currently have three feature films , an animation and two series in development across Europe & the UK.

Our creative focus blends dark humour with psychological depth, often transforming the mundane into the surreal. We strive to bring cinematic, character-driven stories to life — no matter the budget.

Peninsula Pictures is our leading creative co-producer partnership.
Led by Katey-Lee Carson, Peninsula is continually developing new and original stories and has a slate of projects in development.
Lichthaus Berlin is our preferred studio, production and rental service provider. An experienced, reliable and relaxed team providing support to all productions big and small. Created by industry professionals with years of experience and knowledge behind them.
Rotor Film provides excellent Post-Production facilities. They share our professionalism, and love for the art of filmmaking, with a pool of creative post sound and color experts to work with.
Founder
Rickie-Lee Roberts
Rickie-Lee is an Australian-German Producer and Assistant Director with 15 years of industry experience. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Film & Screen Media in Australia, she developed her career in the UK, working on major films such as Cloud Atlas, Thor: The Dark World, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

As a 1st Assistant Director, Rickie-Lee has gained invaluable experience collaborating with renowned auteurs such as Luca Guadagnino (Suspiria), David Lowery (Mother Mary), and Baran Bo Odar (Dark & 1899).
​
With a deep understanding of both feature films and long-form series, she has also served as a consultant on numerous projects and is now returning to her roots as an independent film producer.
